It is important that students accept the use of Japanese in the Japanese class as something normal right from the start; teachers need to demonstrate clearly that language is for communication.
This unit deals with everyday classroom functions including greetings, taking roll call, basic instructions, praising/giving feedback and scolding/disciplining. It also introduces student talk such as clarification requests and asking permission.
