| The
Japan Foundation Sydney Language Centre has
produced Activity Resources - Big Book for lower primary students
to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Centre.
The
aim of this resource is to support the teaching and learning of
Japanese by very young children and this resource provides a variety
of colourful visual stimuli to promote students' learning in ways
that are enjoyable and interesting. Under the theme
どうぶつえん
(zoo), this resource covers many topics commonly taught in this
level, such as age, colours and greetings. When the teacher shows
students the words and pictures as s/he reads, the students will
begin to associate sound and meaning with Japanese written symbols.
One of the
special features of this resource is a set of attachments of pictures,
words and expressions that enable students to interact with the
resource and to create their own stories. In this on-line version
of the Big Book, the attachments of pictures, words and expressions
can be found within the picture. By moving the mouse over the
picture, teachers find which parts of the page are active and
change parts of the picture by clicking on it, or clicking
and dragging objects within the picture.
Press F11 to view the pages in full screen. |
The Activity
Resources are copyright. However, The Japan Foundation Sydney
Language Centre gives permission for copies to be made by teachers
without commercial gain in quantities sufficient for use by bona-fide
students.
This resource was written by Himiko Negishi-Wood and Shingo Usami,
with support from Cathy Jonak.
